Happy Birthday Aiden!

I can't believe my boy is 5 today! Time goes by so fast... The past couple of days he has been wanting to hear the story of his birth. It sure has brought all the memories back and makes me a little sad. But here he is today, 5 and a big, bright boy. He amazes me with his intelligence and wit. Like Tanya and Brandi have said, he is the soul of some old, wise man reincarnated! I love you Aiden, Happy Birthday!

Family Visit!

This weekend Uncle Davey, Auntie Caro, Uncle Scotty and Uncle Ethan all came to visit. We had a great time and just wish it didn't go by so fast... We celebrated Dave and Caro's engagement with a party at Mom and Dad's Saturday night. It was a good time, good food and good catching up with family and friends. Sunday morning we all went to brunch in Kirkland and walked down to the lake so Aiden could see the "dirty light".
I wonder if Dave has bought his Rock Band yet?? He and Jen would definitely duke it out for the mic! Slipper Bitches and the B-Robes in the HOUSE!!! Miss you all!

Swim Lessons

Well, we took the kid's to their first swim lesson on Saturday. Quinn LOVED it, she has found her "thing", Aiden not so much. Quinn kept telling the instructor "I can do it myself, you don't need to hold me." Aiden would NOT let the instructor take him off the stairs and into the "open water". They played a splashing game, which he liked- until the instructor splashed them back! He told Jason to tell the instructor to him alone.

A Message From Our Sponsors

Let's just take a little break for a moment and have a little laugh. Mom is always good for one of those, so enjoy this little pic from our Harry Potter book release party. Ignore the fact that we are at a midnight Harry Potter book release, that I am wearing my HP glasses and that we are taking our picture as the characters, just look at the Chief- then laugh.

SURPRISE!!!

Jason's Mom, Jim, Jen and Ron all flew in on Friday afternoon to surprise him for his birthday. It was also a surprise for the kids. We had a great weekend. Saturday Karen, Jen, the kids and I all went to see Horton Hears a Who while the men went into Seattle to the Pike Place Market and then to Redhook in Woodinville. We went to Jason's favorite vegetarian restaurant, Cafe Flora, for dinner on Saturday night. Sunday we just hung around the house while the kids ran around. It was a fun weekend, but I'm glad that I don't have to keep a secret anymore!!

-Oh, and of course we played Rock Band. Jen's singing was so awful that we couldn't even complete a full song without getting kicked off the stage, and sorry Ron, but you weren't much better. :)

yes, that's Jas rocking the mic!!!

Jason's 30th

Happy Birthday Jas! Welcome to 30, old guy! For Jason's big birthday I took him up to Whistler in Canada for the weekend. The drive Friday was pretty long, but it was nice to have several hours of uninterrupted time to talk. When we finally got to our room we had a nice surprise from Brian, Jill and Jake. They had sent a plate of giant chocolate covered strawberries to the room for Jason's birthday. I would have liked to have taken a picture of them, but after 6 hours in the car it was too much to ask to wait the 5 minutes until our bags with our camera arrived in our room!

Saturday we walked around and looked in all of the shops (even though Jason said we weren't going to shop on his birthday weekend). We went into an activity center with info about what to do in Whistler and decided to go up to the tube park. It was so much fun and a real workout too!

Sunday was reserved for snowboarding. Oh snowboarding, where do I begin... It started out by us getting on the wrong lift and having to figure out how to get to the "easy" area. I'm really good at the whole snowboard strapped to one foot, walking thing. Jason then spotted a green (easy) run that was supposed to take us down the mountain. I was a little concerned about leaving the area that had a gondola that I could just get on and take back down to the bottom of the mountain. I spent no less than an hour from the time we got off the lift and had moved about 10 feet when an employee on a snowmobile finally stopped and asked if we knew there was a beginner area just to the right of where we were. Then he offered me a lift on the snowmobile. Once in the beginner area I was much more comfortable and after Jason went down the bunny slope with me once I let him go up further and do a "real" run. When he came back I took a bad fall and then he went up one more time and I took one more fall and that was it, I was done. I went back to the room and had lunch and showered and shopped while he spent the rest of the day snowboarding. We went out to dinner Sunday to a great Thai restaurant to celebrate his birthday. We had a great weekend and can't wait to go back to Whistler again!

Nap Time Shenanigans

I was downstairs after putting the kids in their rooms for quiettime/naptime and all was quiet for about 40 minutes. I crept upstairs quietly to change the laundry around and when I got to the top of the stairs realized that the kids doors were open and rooms were empty. They had gone into the playroom and started a movie. I walked in and started to ask what they were doing when I saw Quinn's face on the couch. I had to stop myself from laughing and ran to get the camera. Apparently in addition to a little unauthorized tv time, there was some coloring time too...
